Qantas have today unveiled the next phase of their new advertising campaign, replacing their iconic 'I Still Call Australia Home' theme for a new collaboration with Aussie rocker Daniel Johns.
Recorded by Silverchair's Daniel Johns in conjunction with the Australian Chamber Orchestra, the track 'Atlas' is considered a new beginning for the national carrier.

"I've also wanted to work with the Australian Chamber Orchestra for a long time now so it was great to finally be able to do that. I'm really happy with how the song turned out," he said.
The new commercial "takes the viewer on an aerial tour canvassing scenes of Australians going about their everyday activities and ends with a portrait of the faces, supporting the narrative 'Australians fly for many different reasons, we fly for one, you're the reason we fly'".
The announcement was closely followed by a media release from the airline stating that its domestic flights were the most on-time for the past year up to June 30, according to aviation statistics released by the government's Bureau of Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Economies (BITRE).
The airline's executive manager of marketing, Lewis Pullen, said then that the iconic "I Still Call Australia Home" soundtrack would still be used for special events.
Mr Pullen said Qantas will also introduce an Olympic version of the commercial which will feature the Australian Olympic team and Paralympic teams, and include athletes such as Bernard Tomic, Steve Hooker, Liesel Jones, Courtney Atkinson and Kelly Cartwright.

You surely didnt expect anything other than rubbish from this sawn off Irish runt, did you. Oh what a prick he is.
ReplyFlying into Sydney on an early morning Qantas flight after a long overeass trip and hearing "I still call Australia Home" moves the hardest of us frequent flyers. I've travelled on many other airlines back to Australia and nothing beats that sense of homecomming that that tune engenders. DON'T CHANGE IT - it's one of the few real ICONS left.
ReplyI was reading through Facebook as I listened to this.. Waiting for the introduction to finish.. Waiting.. Waiting... Came back and it was finishing. That was awful :/ Sounded like some kind of whale song.
ReplyI head it on radio today and was shocked! They are taking everything Australian out of Qantas and now the "Iconic" branding is gone as well! Hmmm - Maybe the Irish man in charge is setting up to export the complete "kit and kaboodle"?Who knows, all I know is it now sounds like any other lousy airline jingle!
