If you’ve never seen the 1987 classic film The Princess Bride, you’d be among a group of few Qantas flyers on a recent flight who took offense to a T-shirt slogan from the flick.

A New Zealand film lover based in Sydney, Wynand Mullins, unintentionally freaked out his fellow passengers when wearing a T-shirt quoting The Princess Bride’s most famous line on the flight from Sydney to Auckland.
The shirt featured a large name tag with the famous line: “Hello. My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die,” reports Stuff.co.nz.
It seems a handful of passengers did not quite get the joke, complaining to the crew that Mullins’ shirt was making them nervous.
Mullins told Stuff.co.nz: “The flight attendant said to me: ‘Are you able to remove it because some of the passengers are quite intimidated by it’…I thought it was all a bit silly. The person next to me was laughing, because they knew the movie.”
The flight attendant allegedly attempted to find Mullins a replacement shirt – Mullins hoped it would be a pilot’s shirt - but failed to return, and whilst the situation was all a little “over the top” for Mullins, he said he felt someone watching him for the duration of the flight.
Qantas responded in a statement saying it was not aware of the incident, but "Qantas does have dress standards for passengers travelling on our aircraft . . . particularly for slogans which other passengers may find offensive or threatening."

ReplyWow, makes me glad I never bought that Twin Peaks parody shirt... " I killed Laura Palmer, and Bart Simpson is next"
ReplyI agree md.s - with his visual presence combined with the slogan, I would be very suspicious. In the interests of the majority on board he should have been offloaded, if unabel to replace it.
