In a major coup for Australian tourism, The Ellen DeGeneres Show will be heading to Australia to film numerous segments around Sydney and Melbourne in March.
The surprise announcement by Ellen and Nicole Kidman also saw each audience member receive a return ticket between Australia and the US, is valid any time between now and the end of the year.Unlike Oprah's Ultimate Australian Adventure, which saw the legendary talk show host travel to the country with her studio audience, the show will not feature members of the audience.
Watched by a global audience of more than 16 million people, the show's visit to Australia is part of a promotional deal with Swisse and Qantas.
Qantas CEO Allan Joyce said, "Ellen is a household name and her unique brand of fun and optimism is a perfect match for the relaxed Australian culture".
It's believed that Ellen and her wife Portia de Rossi will travel to Melbourne first and then on Sydney to shoot the remainder of the Australian segments.
