Hurricane Sandy from Surfer's Eyes - Kelly Slater

Surfers in and around the US have been instagramming raw photos as Hurricane Sandy gains momentum. Dubbed "Frankenstorm", Sandy is packing winds of up to 150 kilometres-an-hour and its front is so big it could stretch across 12 states and affect 50 million people. For surfers, Sandy touches on coupled emotions - excitement to surf big waves, and the fear of safety and damage to property. Credit: @kellyslater
