If you’ve never seen the 1987 classic film The Princess Bride, you’d be among a group of few Qantas flyers on a recent flight who took offense to a T-shirt slogan from the flick.

A New Zealand film lover based in Sydney, Wynand Mullins, unintentionally freaked out his fellow passengers when wearing a T-shirt quoting The Princess Bride’s most famous line on the flight from Sydney to Auckland.

The shirt featured a large name tag with the famous line: “Hello. My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die,” reports Stuff.co.nz.

It seems a handful of passengers did not quite get the joke, complaining to the crew that Mullins’ shirt was making them nervous.

Mullins told Stuff.co.nz: “The flight attendant said to me: ‘Are you able to remove it because some of the passengers are quite intimidated by it’…I thought it was all a bit silly. The person next to me was laughing, because they knew the movie.”

The flight attendant allegedly attempted to find Mullins a replacement shirt – Mullins hoped it would be a pilot’s shirt - but failed to return, and whilst the situation was all a little “over the top” for Mullins, he said he felt someone watching him for the duration of the flight.

Qantas responded in a statement saying it was not aware of the incident, but "Qantas does have dress standards for passengers travelling on our aircraft . . . particularly for slogans which other passengers may find offensive or threatening."

I agree md.s - with his visual presence combined with the slogan, I would be very suspicious. In the interests of the majority on board he should have been offloaded, if unabel to replace it.

Sometimes you just have to think about how others will interpret what you wear. That last check as you are about to head to the airport: does this make me look like a candidate for a body-cavity search?

i remember this movie and remember that line as well, what has the world become when people start freaking out over something so stupid.Time to wake up and drink a glass of cement world your getting too soft these days, bring back the 70's and 80's when wearing stuff like this was cool not a reason to panic. My Pink Floyd t-stirt that was for the 1987 album A Momentary Lapse Of Reason caused a few waves a few years ago.i mean nothing offensive on it nor is there any graphics that would consider it to be anything of a real nature but it upset a couple of people because they took it as a offence to the not so intelligent people,i mean come on that was so stupid and of course this issue is as well.

I'm with Kristy - I also do not tweet or use Facebook. Both are a meaningless waste of time.
